It’s December, and it’s all dark again
So we start drinking when it’s 4pm
I took a road trip with my new best friend
Somewhere warm where we can play pretend
That we’re not running from responsibility, no
We’re just yearning for some dirt on our knees
And I feel hungry for something better than this
Alarm clock and washing dishes
Collecting pennies and dimes and unsolicited advice
I can’t remember why
You thought this would be a good idea
Go to school and get a job live your life in fear
And you thought you would figure it out with the time you took aside
Freaked out friends asking if you died
And you thought about cutting yourself out and cutting yourself off
Like you do in the winter
Well what if you went ahead and learned how to crack a fucking smile
Like you do in the summer
Big kids with big ideas
We get on, passing it off as dark humour
Dumb kids with dumb ideas
We get along because there’s always alcohol
And I miss my old face
And I can’t feel anything, for much more than a second
And I don’t know how to say good morning without it sounding all wrong…
